PHF gears up for South Asian Games, proposes Lahore as venue

The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has taken significant
strides in preparation for the upcoming South Asian Games, formally presenting
its plans to the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA). The highly-anticipated
event is set to feature seven teams, both men's and women's, with the proposed
venue being the National Hockey Stadium in Lahore.
During a meeting chaired by the President of POA, Muhammad Abid
Qadri Gillani, Haider Hussain, the Secretary-General of PHF, delivered a
comprehensive briefing on the federation's preparations. The National Hockey
Stadium in Lahore is earmarked as the venue for the prestigious event,
showcasing the commitment of Pakistan to host international sporting
competitions.
Key figures attended the meeting, including Khalid Mahmood, the
Secretary-General of Pakistan Olympic Association, and officials from various
national sports federations. Notable attendees were Khalid Bashir
(Secretary-General, Pakistan Basketball Federation), Haji Muhammad Shafiq
(President, Pakistan Handball Federation), Faizi Khawaja (Chairman, Pakistan
Rugby Federation), Nasir Ahmed (Director, Pakistan Volleyball Federation), and
Muhammad Jahangir (Chairman, Pakistan Karate Federation).
Haider Hussain, during the briefing, provided insights into the
pre-arrangement feasibility submitted by the Pakistan Hockey Federation. The
meeting served as a platform for collaborative efforts and discussions on
various recommendations and strategies to ensure the seamless organization of
the international competition.
Acknowledging the dedication of the POA to player development,
Haider Hussain highlighted the collective efforts aimed at securing Pakistan as
a host for international events. The Secretary-General of Pakistan Olympic
Association, Khalid Mahmood, commended the proposals presented by the Pakistan
Hockey Federation and other stakeholders. He expressed appreciation for the
shared commitment to elevate the standards of the game and endorsed the
aspirations of hosting international events in Pakistan. The collaborative
