J-35 Fighter in full "beast mode" configuration

A newly released official image from China showcases the J-35 stealth fighter
jet in full combat configuration, commonly referred to as "Beast
Mode." The latest disclosure highlights the advanced aircraft's extensive
payload capacity, featuring a mix of air-to-air and air-to-surface weaponry.
According to the official release, the
J-35 is capable of carrying the following armament:
- 6 × PL-15 / PL-16
Beyond-Visual-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (BVRAAM)
- 4 × CM-98
Air-Launched Cruise Missiles (ALCM)
- 2 × PL-10
High Off-Boresight (HOBS) Short-Range Air-to-Air Missiles

In a significant development, Chinese
state media has confirmed for the first time that the J-35’s internal weapons
bay can accommodate 6 weapons or
missiles, contrasting with earlier reports and estimates that capped its
internal capacity at four. This upgrade represents a substantial boost to the
jet's stealth-configured firepower.
The CM-98
Cruise Missile: Capabilities and Range
The report also sheds light on the
CM-98, China’s next-generation air-to-ground cruise missile. Key details
regarding the missile include:
- Range:
Officially stated to be approximately 300 kilometers, though variant
reports suggest an operational range extending between 300 km and 500 km.
- Payload:
It is capable of carrying a warhead weighing roughly 285 kilograms.
Comparative
Stealth Claims
Chinese official sources claim that the
CM-98 features superior stealth (radar-evading) capabilities, asserting that
its low-observable profile outperforms prominent Western counterparts,
specifically the British Storm Shadow
and the American JASSM cruise
missiles.

دلچسپ بات یہ ہے کہ چینی سرکاری میڈیا نے پہلی بار اس بات کی تصدیق کی ہے کہ جے-35 کے اندرونی ہتھیار خانے (Internal Weapons Bay) میں پہلے کی اطلاعات کے برعکس 4 نہیں بلکہ 6 ہتھیار یا میزائل رکھے جا سکتے ہیں۔
مزید یہ کہ CM-98 چین کا نئی نسل کا فضاء سے زمین پر مار کرنے والا کروز میزائل (ALCM) ہے، جس کی مار تقریباً 300 کلومیٹر بتائی جاتی ہے، جبکہ بعض رپورٹس کے مطابق اس کی حدِ مار 300 سے 500 کلومیٹر تک ہو سکتی ہے۔ یہ تقریباً 285 کلوگرام وزنی وارہیڈ لے جانے کی صلاحیت رکھتا ہے۔
چین کا دعویٰ ہے کہ CM-98 اسٹیلتھ (ریڈار سے بچنے) کی صلاحیت میں برطانوی Storm Shadow اور امریکی JASSM کروز میزائل سے بھی زیادہ بہتر ہے۔
