Notice Issued to Rana Mujahid Ali in contempt of court case
By our correspondent
Secretary Pakistan Hockey Federation Haider Hussain has filed a case of contempt of court against Rana Mujahid Ali, leading to the issuance of notices by the honorable court.
Following arguments presented by the plaintiff's lawyers, Barrister Mueez Tariq and Advocate Tahir Abbas Bhatti, the court has directed Rana Mujahid Ali, son of Abdul Hameed Sakna from Faisalabad, to appear before the honorable court on March 19.
The contempt of court case stems from allegations that Rana Mujahid Ali violated a court order by continuing to act as Secretary of PHF despite a suspension of the notification of his disputed resignation. The court had issued a temporary injunction in favor of the plaintiff's case, restraining Rana Mujahid Ali from performing his duties as Secretary of PHF.
It is alleged that Rana Mujahid Ali convened an extraordinary meeting of the Pakistan Hockey Federation Congress on March 13, 2024, in violation of the court's order, identifying himself as the Secretary General of PHF. This act, according to the plaintiff, constitutes contempt of court and a deliberate disregard for legal orders.
Secretary General Pakistan Hockey Federation Haider Hussain, the plaintiff in the case, has urged the court to take contempt of court proceedings against Rana Mujahid Ali and ensure compliance with legal orders. The plaintiff seeks strict adherence to the court's directives and demands that Rana Mujahid Ali refrain from presenting himself as the Secretary of PHF.
It is pertinent to mention that Rana Mujahid Ali had previously faced a ten-year ban imposed by the Pakistan Olympic Association. Despite serving a five-year suspension period, the ban was reinstated on January 12, 2018, upon appeal for remission. However, this ban was later lifted by the Pakistan Olympic Association.
