National Women's Baseball begins

Women's baseball teams of Pakistan Army, Pakistan WAPDA and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa won their respective matches on the opening day of the 18th National Women's Baseball Championship 2024 here.
The 18th National
Women's Baseball Championship under the auspices of the Pakistan Federation
Baseball started at the National Coaching Center in Lahore. Apart from the four
provinces, teams from Islamabad, Pakistan Army, Pakistan WAPDA, Pakistan Police
and HEC are participating in the championship. Pakistan Army is defending the
title.
On the occasion of
the inauguration of the championship, Mr. Moazzam Khan, Executive Director
Pakistan Federation Baseball was the chief guest. Syed Fakhr Ali Shah Secretary
General Pakistan Federation Baseball along with other officials welcomed the
Chief Guest. After the national anthem, the chief guest was introduced with the
players.
Three matches were
played on the first day of the championship. In the first match, the Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa team defeated the Pakistan Police team by 16-6. For Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa, Nida and Aiman Malik scored three runs each, Maria, Muqadas and
Sidra Khattak scored two runs each while Hina, Mah Noor, Sidra and Rameen
scored one run each and contributed to the victory. While for police team,
Aleena, Iqra, Huma, Fazila, Allah Mafi and Mona scored one run each.
In the second
match, Pakistan WAPDA defeated Islamabad 16-1 under mercy rule. For Pakistan
WAPDA, Madeeha, Gul Feroza, Saiqa, Sidra Riasat, Iqra, Noreena and Ayesha
scored two runs each while Hurraira and Iram scored one run. Chaman Mushtaq
scored the only run for Islamabad.
In the third match,
Pakistan Army defeated the Punjab team in a one-sided match by 17-0 in the
second innings of the match under mercy rule. Three Army players including
Zahida Ghani, Asia Siddiqa and Atiya Saif scored three runs each, while Maida
Batool, Rabia Shahid and Samia Khalid scored two runs each, while Rashida and
Fareeha Nayab scored one run each. Army's Zahida Ghani hit the first home run
of the championship.
