Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has presented an outline of his vision for Pakistan cricket with emphasis on unity, player prioritization like playing for the country first, and Infrastructure enhancement as the main focus.

In a discussion with national players on Tuesday, Mohsin Naqvi laid out his vision for the future of Pakistan cricket, addressing crucial aspects ranging from player unity to infrastructure development. Naqvi, a prominent figure in Pakistani media industry, emphasized the need for a collective effort to propel the national team to success.

Naqvi met Pakistan players participating in HBL PSL 9 at a local hotel in Islamabad. Chairman addressed the players and lauded their performances in national colours.

One of the central themes of Naqvi's discussion was the importance of unity among players. He stressed the idea that cricket is a team sport, and to achieve success, 11 players must come together as a one unit on the field. Regardless of the match outcome, Naqvi urged players not to shy away from a fight, as the Pakistani people appreciate the team's spirit and effort.

“Our collective mission is to win and for that, we must be united. We are committed to bringing merit to our work ethic. The high performers and quality players will be given ample opportunities to prove their mettle. All of you are good enough and that is why you are here. The board aims to invest more resources in our players.

“I want you to inculcate fighting spirit in your style of play irrespective of the results. Fans in Pakistan love cricket and they will surely back the team when you put up a fight on the ground.  We will have to make some sacrifices for the great cause and look forward to the upcoming challenges in our cricket schedule. The PCB is also planning to upgrade some of the major venues in the country.”

Naqvi also touched upon the financial aspects of the game, urging players to prioritize representing Pakistan over individual income. While acknowledging the significance of players' contracts, he suggested that they could be further improved. Emphasizing a national-first mentality, Naqvi stated that politics should be set aside, and the focus should be on the common goal of success for the Pakistani cricket team.

In terms of player development, Naqvi announced plans to enhance the cricket academy and upgrade state teams. He expressed a commitment to investing the cricket board's resources directly into the players and advised against accumulating funds without a clear purpose.

“Our collective mission is to win and for that, we must be united. We are committed to bringing merit to our work ethic. The high performers and quality players will be given ample opportunities to prove their mettle. All of you are good enough and that is why you are here. The board aims to invest more resources in our players.”

Addressing upcoming international engagements, Naqvi highlighted the significance of fitness and announced a training camp scheduled at Kakul. He mentioned that despite challenges in finding time for training, efforts were being made to ensure the players' fitness ahead of matches against New Zealand and tours to England, Ireland, and America.

“We have a home series against New Zealand followed by away series against Ireland and England before departing to the USA for the mega event. The board has planned a strength and conditioning camp before this challenging international season.”

Infrastructure development also featured prominently in Naqvi's vision. He revealed plans for a 5-star hotel near Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and the National Stadium in Karachi. The move aims to provide top-notch facilities to players and create a conducive environment for their preparation and recovery.

Closing the discussion, Naqvi assured players that his doors were always open to them, encouraging them to reach out whenever needed. He also indicated ongoing discussions for coaching staff appointments, with a commitment to bringing the best available individuals into the fold.

Chief Selector Wahab Riaz and Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseer were present during the discussion, indicating a collaborative approach in shaping the future of Pakistan cricket. Naqvi's comprehensive vision encompasses both the on-field performance and off-field support structures, reflecting a holistic strategy for the development and success of Pakistani cricket.
