The
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), in a strategic move aimed at enhancing the
cricketing infrastructure in the country, has unveiled plans to upgrade key
stadiums across the country ahead of the upcoming Champions Trophy.
According to
reliable sources, major overhauls are anticipated for the cricket stadiums in
Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi. The primary focus will be on modernizing the
facilities to meet international standards and enhance the overall spectator
experience.
One of the key
developments is the introduction of double-story stands at Gaddafi Stadium in
Lahore, a move intended to augment the seating capacity. The initiative is
poised to commence post the New Zealand series, further solidifying Pakistan's
position as a prominent host for international cricket events.
Additionally, the
National (Bank) Stadium in Karachi is slated for similar upgrades, with
Chairman PCB, Mohsin Naqvi, expected to visit the stadium shortly. The visit
will play a pivotal role in finalizing the comprehensive plan for the
renovation of the National Stadium Karachi. The proposed enhancements aim to
provide a state-of-the-art environment for players and spectators alike.
Moreover,
Rawalpindi's cricket stadium is also under consideration for improvements.
Plans include the installation of hospitality boxes and fixed chairs, further
elevating the overall infrastructure.
These developments
underscore PCB's commitment to fostering a conducive environment for cricket
development in Pakistan. The upgrades align with the vision to host major
international tournaments, such as the Champions Trophy, and elevate the
standard of cricket facilities in the country.
