In a surprising move,
the Quetta Gladiators have traded Iftikhar Ahmed to the Multan Sultans in
exchange for Rilee Rossouw for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) season
9.
The Sultans also received the
first pick in the Platinum round and the first Silver category pick as part of
the deal.
Iftikhar expressed his
excitement to join the Sultans and represent the passionate fans of Multan. He
aims to help the team achieve their goal of winning the PSL trophy.
Sultans skipper Mohammad Rizwan
welcomed Iftikhar, praising his outstanding all-round skills and positive
impact on the team.
Rossouw's trade to Quetta marks
his return to the franchise where he made his PSL debut.
In another major trade, Imad
Wasim has been traded from the Karachi Kings to Islamabad United for Hassan
Ali.
Wasim, who led Karachi to their
maiden PSL title in the fifth edition, has been acquired by United under the
Platinum category.
Hassan, who represented
Islamabad in the last season, will play for the Karachi Kings under the Diamond
category.
The Karachi Kings received
Islamabad United's first-round Silver pick in exchange for their second-round
Silver pick.
Multan Sultans hint at signing Naseem
Shah
The Multan Sultans posted a
cryptic video on their X, previously Twitter, social media account, hinting at
the signing of a highly-valued asset.
The video shows WWE Superstar
Shawn Michaels climbing a ladder and reaching for the WWE Championship belt.
This has led to speculation that the Sultans have signed Pakistani fast bowler
Naseem Shah.
Shah represented Quetta
Gladiators in last season's PSL and is currently undergoing rehabilitation
after shoulder surgery.
While some experts believe Shah
should be rested for this season's PSL due to fitness concerns, others believe
he could still play a significant role for one of the franchises.
A final decision on Shah's
participation will be made after his rehabilitation stage is completed.
The PSL Draft is scheduled to
take place on December 13. This is the second trade confirmed in PSL ahead of
the draft.
