All-rounder Imad announces retirement from international cricket

Pakistan’s all-rounder Imad Wasim has announced his retirement from international cricket, bringing an end to an illustrious eight-year career. The 34-year-old Wasim made his international debut in May 2015 against Zimbabwe and went on to represent Pakistan in 55 ODIs and 66 T20Is, leaving an indelible mark on the cricketing landscape.


Throughout his career, Wasim played a pivotal role in the Pakistan team’s success, showcasing his exceptional skills and unwavering commitment to the sport. He was an integral part of the 2017 Champions Trophy-winning squad, demonstrating his ability to perform on the grandest stages. Additionally, he represented Pakistan at the 2016 T20 World Cup, 2019 World Cup, and 2021 T20 World Cup, consistently contributing to the team’s endeavors.


In a heartfelt statement, Imad Wasim expressed his gratitude: “I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to the PCB for their unwavering support throughout my career. It has been an immense privilege to represent Pakistan on the international stage. Each of my 121 appearances across the ODI and T20I formats has been an unforgettable dream come true. As Pakistan cricket embarks on an exciting new chapter with new coaches and leadership, I wish them every success and look forward to witnessing the team’s continued excellence. I am incredibly grateful to the passionate Pakistani fans for their unwavering support throughout my journey. As I step away from international cricket, I am eager to focus on the next chapter of my playing career.”
