Abbas highlights concerns over fast bowlers' fitness

LAHORE: Pakistan fast bowler
Mohammad Abbas has expressed concern over the fitness of the country's pace
bowlers, emphasizing the need for them to play longer format matches regularly.
Abbas believes that unless fast
bowlers participate in domestic first-class games, their bodies won't be
adequately prepared for the challenges of Test cricket.
The concern arises amid several
injuries to pace bowlers, including Naseem Shah, Ihsanullah, and Mohammad
Hasnain. Abbas suggests that focusing primarily on limited-overs cricket
without exposure to longer formats may contribute to ongoing fitness issues
among the fast bowlers.
Pakistan recently competed in
the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup, where they had a mixed performance, winning
some matches but failing to advance to the semi-finals. Abbas's comments
highlight the importance of a well-rounded approach to cricket, especially for
fast bowlers who need endurance for the demanding Test format.
