LRC gears up for three exciting cup races in a card of seven

LAHORE: Horse racing enthusiasts are in for a thrilling treat as the Lahore Race Club prepares for its 13th winter meeting, packed with three captivating cup events and four Gawadar plates. The action-packed day of racing is scheduled to take place today, Sunday, at the Lahore Racecourse.

The day promises a thrilling blend of competitive races, showcasing the finest thoroughbreds in action as the cup events take center stage.

The day's highlights include three prestigious cup events: the Omar Mukhtar Cup, the Khalid Bin Waleed Cup, and the Royal Hero Cup. Each cup race promises to showcase the finest thoroughbreds competing for glory.

A Battle of Three-Year-Olds: The Omar Mukhtar Cup, a Term Race for three-year-olds, will see six promising youngsters vie for victory over 1400 meters. Farhan King stands as the favorite, with Spartacus tipped for second place and Sarpanch as a potential spoiler. Others in the run are, Redrock, Hizar, and All For Love.

A Clash of Class VI Horses: The Khalid Bin Waleed Cup features a select field of seven horses. Champ emerges as the frontrunner, with Galactica and Market Leader closely following in the race for glory. Other challengers are, Mighty Macs, Marryshah Pride, and Last Emperor.

A thrilling eight-horse showdown: The Royal Hero Cup, a Class VI and Division I&II race, promises an exhilarating contest. Samson, Shair-e-Niaz Baig, and Zarpash are the top contenders, but the remaining field holds the potential for an upset. Remaining field has Alpha, Zindabaad, Casper, Bella Veste and Generosity.

Alongside the cup events, four Gawadar plates will add to the day's excitement. These races feature a diverse range of classes and divisions, ensuring a captivating display of equine prowess.

The opening Gawadar Plate is set to be an exciting affair, with Merchant of Venus emerging as the clear favorite. It is a seasoned competitor with a proven track record and is expected to dominate the Class-VII and Division-VI&VII race. Galileo Lady (KRC) holds a strong position for second place, while Pride of Chandrai is considered a potential spoiler. The field of 14 horses includes a mix of experienced runners and promising newcomers, adding to the race's intrigue. Tady Don, Malik Prince, Kara Macs, Lady Constable, Bhola Bhalla, Moon Light, Noman The Great, Monsoon Mischief, Minister, Champion Prince, and Silent Melody will all be vying for a place in the top three.

The second Class-VII and Division-V&VI race of 12 participants has Haseeb Queen as favourote while Absolutely Not may take place and Forsythia would be a spoiler. Others in the run are Naveed-e-Sahar, Abdullah Love, Gifts of Gold, Macs, Sam Love (RRC), Blue Boy, Mister Macs, Big and Kuwait Currency.

The sixth race, a Class VII and Division II&III is a maiden race, features a field of 12 promising debutants. Big Dream stands as the favorite, with Glorious One and Shakira tipped for second and third place, respectively. Challenge would also be coming from Love of Niaz Baig, Money Heist, National Colour, Paddington, Moni Princess, Murad, Quality Street, Bio Care, and Jack.

The final race, a Class VII and Division III, IV & V race, presents a competitive field of seven horses. Jalpana Prince emerges as the favorite, with Desert Parri and Wonder Boy poised for an upset. The remaining field includes Codes Cracker, Stardom, and Magical City.
