Sohail Tanvir appointed head of Junior Selection Committee

LAHORE: Former Pakistan
cricketer Sohail Tanvir, a member of the 2009 T20 World Cup-winning squad, has
been appointed as the head of the junior selection committee by the Pakistan
Cricket Board (PCB). Sohail Tanvir made his international debut in 2007 and had
a notable career, featuring in two Tests, 62 ODIs, and 57 T20Is for Pakistan.
He contributed both with the ball and the bat, picking up 130 wickets and
scoring 612 runs across the three formats.
Sohail Tanvir's first
task as the chairperson of the junior selection committee will be the selection
of the Pakistan U19 squad for the 2023 ACC U19 Asia Cup, scheduled to take
place from 8 to 17 December in the UAE. Following that, the U19 team will
participate in the ICC U19 World Cup, which is set to be held from 13 January
to 4 February in Sri Lanka.
Expressing his gratitude
for the opportunity, Sohail Tanvir acknowledged the responsibility that comes
with the role and emphasized his belief in the potential of young talent in
Pakistan. He aims to work collaboratively to build a pathway for success from
grassroots to the international level, starting with the selection of a strong
U19 squad for the upcoming tournaments.
Sohail Tanvir stated,
"Our first task will be the selection of the U19 squad for the upcoming
ACC U19 Asia Cup, as we prepare to build a strong team to compete in the ICC
U19 World Cup later next year."
