HBL PSL 9 player draft pick order finalized
By our correspondent
LAHORE: As preparations for HBL PSL 9 gain momentum, the Pick Order for the Player Draft has been officially determined. Quetta Gladiators will have the privilege of making the first pick in the upcoming draft, followed by Karachi Kings and two-time champions Islamabad United in the second and third positions, respectively.
The Pick Order for the first round is based on the inverse order of the previous season's standings, ensuring that the team with the lowest standing gets the first pick. To enhance fairness, each franchise will occupy the first pick in a different category. Quetta Gladiators will kick off the Platinum picks, with Karachi Kings having the first Diamond pick, and Peshawar Zalmi making the opening Gold pick. Multan Sultans and Islamabad United will have the first picks in the Silver and Emerging categories, respectively, and Lahore Qalandars will conclude the first round with the first Supplementary pick.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has initiated the registration process for foreign players, and the flagship event is tentatively scheduled to take place from 8 February to 24 March 2024. Franchisees are now set to submit relegation requests for players, and after the floating of these requests, teams have the opportunity to match the player's base category. If the base category is not matched, players may be relegated to a category below their base category.
The HBL PSL 9 Draft is tentatively scheduled for mid-December, following the conclusion of the National T20. As anticipation builds, cricket enthusiasts await the unfolding of the draft, where teams will strategically build their squads for the upcoming season.
