LAHORE: Peshawar and Karachi Whites have earned their places in the final of the Pakistan Cup 2023-24, scheduled to take place on 19th November at Pindi Stadium in Rawalpindi. The toss is set to happen at 0900 PKT, with the game commencing at 0930 PKT. Pakistani audiences can catch the live broadcast on the PTV Network and while overseas viewers can stream the match on the PCB’s YouTube channel.
Heading into the semi-finals, Peshawar held the top spot in the standings with 11 points, followed by Karachi Whites and Multan with 9 points each. FATA secured the fourth position with 8 points. In the first semi-final, Peshawar defeated FATA by 44 runs, led by Sahibzada Farhan's captaincy and Adil Amin's half-century contributions. Adil Amin is the leading run-scorer for Peshawar with 279 runs in seven innings, backed by Abbas Afridi, the 23-year-old pacer, who has taken 12 wickets.
In the second semi-final, Karachi Whites secured their spot in the final by defeating Multan by 43 runs (DLS). Saim Ayub, the 21-year-old left-handed opening batter, has been the star performer for Karachi Whites, amassing 386 runs in seven innings, including a century. His opening partner Shan Masood closely follows with 372 runs, also including a century. Sohail Khan, the experienced pacer, leads the bowling department with 10 wickets, complemented by left-arm spinner Danish Aziz with nine wickets.
Sarfaraz Ahmed, the captain of Karachi Whites, expressed confidence in his team's performance, stating, "Our team has played some good cricket in the tournament. All the boys have fulfilled their roles. I am really hopeful that we will continue that and perform well in the final."
Peshawar's captain Sahibzada Farhan mentioned the team's preparation and balance, saying, "We trust our boys and back ourselves to do well in the final. Both the teams playing the final are good teams, whoever does better on the day will win." The final promises a competitive clash between two strong teams vying for the Pakistan Cup title.
