Ahmed gives priority to domestic event
Pakistani opening batsman Ahmed Shehzad has made a bold decision to decline a lucrative offer from the Abu Dhabi T10 League in favor of continuing his participation in the ongoing National T20 Cup with the Lahore Whites.
Shehzad took to his social media
account, formerly Twitter (X), to announce his decision, emphasizing his
commitment to domestic cricket and his aspirations to reclaim a spot in the
national team.
"I have respectfully
declined a contract to play in the ongoing season of the Abu Dhabi T10 League
as I believe I have some unfinished business with my team Lahore Whites in the
National T20 Cup," Shehzad stated.
His dedication to domestic
cricket is further evident in his desire to set an example for aspiring young
cricketers. "I want to continue playing domestic cricket in Pakistan. I
have always believed in putting Pakistan first, and I will continue to strive
towards earning a place in the national team once again," he asserted.
Shehzad's decision is a
testament to his commitment to Pakistan's domestic cricket structure and his
unwavering belief in the talent and potential of Pakistani cricketers. His
focus on the National T20 Cup highlights the importance of domestic tournaments
in nurturing and developing future national stars.
Shehzad's impressive
performances in the National T20 Cup, where he emerged as the leading
run-scorer with 213 runs from three innings, further validate his decision. His
exceptional average of 106.50 played a pivotal role in securing Lahore Whites'
qualification for the Super Eight round.
Shehzad's decision to prioritize
the National T20 Cup over the Abu Dhabi T10 League sends a strong message to
aspiring cricketers, emphasizing the value of domestic tournaments and the
importance of contributing to the growth of Pakistani cricket.
