The heat is on at the Lahore Race Club as the Summer Meeting
2025 gallops into action on Monday, June 9, with an exciting six-race card that
includes the much-anticipated Summer Cup and Eid Cup. These two feature events,
along with four Fantastic Plates, set the tone for a competitive season ahead.
The day kicks off in the evening with the Fantastic Plate
(Class VII, Division VI) featuring a strong 17-horse field. Among the hopefuls,
Manhood JR stands out as a hot favourite, with Leo Star tipped for a strong
place finish. Noon Princess is seen as a potential surprise package if things
break right. Others in contention include Murmraiz The Great, Jalthal,
Augustus, Khalid Bin Waleed, Thunder Lady, Usman’s Love, Dubai Love, and Deep
Impact, among others.
The second race, another Fantastic Plate (Class VII,
Division V), features ten contenders. Pocket Power is widely expected to
dominate, while Monsoon Mischief may follow closely at place. However, a
potential upset could come from Sky Warrior entering as a fluke. The field also
includes Classic Mystery, Star Crown, Lucky Macs, Al Mabrook, Chika Rika, Mr
Asia, and Thunder Man (Krc).
The evening heats up further with the Summer Cup (Class V,
Division V)—one of the day’s main attractions. Little Master is the frontrunner
in this competitive group, with Zaman Sahib expected to land a place. However,
the entry of Twinkle adds an element of unpredictability. The remaining
runners—Naveed-e-Saher, Dil Lagi, Absolutely Not, and Apple Of My Eyes—add
depth to the race.
In the Eid Cup, a combined Class VII & VI race
(Divisions I & IV), Black Tiger appears to have the edge to take the lead,
with Wynx rated as a strong contender for place honours. KitKat may spring a
surprise. Watch out for Samson, Quality Street, and Golden Heart, who are also
capable of staging a challenge.
The fifth race—Fantastic Plate (Class VII, Division II &
III)—features a solid line-up. Qalandar is viewed as the top pick, followed by
Samore City. However, the presence of Son Of Sultan as a fluke entry keeps the
outcome open. Others like Sarkar Raj, Daaku, Haseeb Warrior, and Mera Gondal
will be looking to leave their mark.
The final race of the day, another Fantastic Plate (Class
VII, Division IV), wraps things up with a field of seven. Luckvir is backed to
take the win, with Desert Parri considered reliable for a place finish.
Paddington enters as a fluke but could turn heads if conditions suit. Also
running are Titxie, Deedawar, Fancy Fire Two, and Arzaad.
With all races set at 1,000 meters and participants drawn
from Class VI and VII categories across various divisions, Monday promises a
thrilling start to the summer racing calendar at Lahore Race Club. The first
race begins at 6:30 PM, with strict adherence to clean and clear run policies.
