The Lahore Qalandars continue to lead the way in player development, this time taking their mission to the international stage. During their PSL 10 Trophy Tour across the United Kingdom, the Qalandars officially announced the launch of a UK-based talent hunt and county exchange program, opening doors for young cricketers within the British Pakistani community and beyond.

The exciting announcement was made at a prestigious event held at the Pakistan High Commission in London, where Qalandars CEO Atif Rana, COO Sameen Rana, and team captain Shaheen Shah Afridi came together to celebrate the franchise’s PSL 10 title with overseas players, dignitaries, and diaspora fans.

Expanding global pathways for emerging talent

Sameen Rana emphasized the importance of this initiative, noting that the UK talent hunt is designed to give young players international exposure and create opportunities not just within the Qalandars system but potentially across other global franchises.

"This initiative will help young players gain international exposure and open doors not only to the Qalandars but potentially to other franchises as well," Sameen said.

The franchise also revealed plans to partner with English county clubs to establish structured exchange programs that would allow emerging Pakistani talent to develop in the competitive environment of county cricket.

Bringing the celebration to the players

The event also paid tribute to England-based Qalandars players Sam Billings and Tom Curran, who were unable to join the team in Lahore for the PSL final due to travel restrictions.

"Sam and Tom couldn’t be in Lahore for the final, so we brought the celebration to them," said Shaheen Afridi with a smile.

Billings described the Qalandars franchise as "rare and special," while Curran reflected on how the environment made him feel "at home from the very start."

A cultural and sporting bridge

The event was attended by key figures including former PCB chairman Najam Sethi, journalist and politician Jugnu Mohsin, and Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK, Dr Mohammad Faisal, who hailed the Qalandars’ efforts as a powerful example of cultural diplomacy and community engagement.

Dr Faisal praised the Qalandars’ unique model, stating that the franchise has become "a bridge between Pakistan and its global diaspora, using cricket as a tool for unity and opportunity."

Qalandars’ global vision

With this UK tour and international talent hunt, Lahore Qalandars are not just celebrating a trophy — they’re building a lasting, global cricketing footprint. Their vision extends beyond local success, aiming to connect Pakistan’s cricketing future with the global stage and provide a platform for undiscovered players across borders.

The franchise’s commitment to player development, international collaboration, and community outreach is setting a new standard for PSL teams and strengthening Pakistan cricket’s connection to its passionate overseas fans.
