Dubawi’s Angel soars to Summer Cup triumph
Surprises rule
the turf at Lahore Race Club
Asher Butt
If you're a
racing fan, Sunday at the Lahore Race Club was a treat you didn’t want to miss.
With six gripping events on the 4th day of the Summer Meeting 2025, the track
delivered everything: favourites flying, underdogs shining, and flukes turning
into fairytales.
But the star
of the show? Dubawi’s Angel — who flew like her name suggests and captured the
Summer Cup with ease and grace.
Summer Cup:
Dubawi’s Angel delivers in style
All eyes
were on Dubawi’s Angel — and she did not disappoint. The crowd favourite ran a
flawless race to clinch the Summer Cup trophy, leaving little doubt about her
class. What shocked the stands, however, were the podium companions: Great One
galloping into second and Chika Rika sneaking into third, both unexpected but
welcome surprises.
Race-by-race
highlights – Surprises around every corner
Race 1: Macs
opens the day with a bang
In a start
no one predicted, Macs, the underdog, stormed to victory. Sargana Choice,
tipped as a potential disruptor, grabbed second. Pre-race favourite Usman’s
Love looked flat and had to settle for third.
Race 2:
Dubawi’s Angel steals the spotlight
As already
mentioned, Dubawi’s Angel flew ahead of the pack to win comfortably. With
surprises Great One and Chika Rika taking the next two spots, this race had
both satisfaction and shock value.
Race 3:
Absolutely Not? Absolutely YES!
Known for
being unpredictable, Absolutely Not had its moment in the spotlight. Lucky Macs
threw in another surprise, while consistent Noon Princess wrapped up the podium
finishers.
Race 4:
Desert Parri ends Little Master’s reign
If you
blinked, you might’ve missed Desert Parri blazing to the front and stunning
everyone. Favourite Little Master’s winning streak ended, and Luckvir chipped
in for third, living up to his fluke label.
Race 5: Wynx
turns the tables
Expected to
place, Wynx went a step further and galloped to victory. Luna Afzaal, who many
expected to dominate, managed second, while old-timer Red Rock brought
experience to the fore with a third-place finish.
Race 6:
Elizabeth ends the day in style
It was a
fluke-fueled finish in the final race. Elizabeth, barely mentioned in pre-race
talks, swept the finale. Phantom made a mysterious charge into second, and the
favourite Specialist was left trailing in third.
The unpredictable
beauty of horse racing
This
Sunday’s card proved once again why horse racing never gets old. One minute
you’re cheering for the favourite, the next you’re in awe of a dark horse
storming to glory.
Whether you
were betting, spectating, or just enjoying the spectacle, this Summer Cup
edition had it all — speed, surprises, and stories to remember.
With more
race days ahead in this Summer Meeting series, one thing’s for sure: expect the
unexpected.
