White-Ball Head Coach Kirsten set to join team on May 19

Pakistan’s newly-appointed
white ball head coach Gary Kirsten will take charge of his duties with the
national cricket team for a two-year tenure on May 19.
Pakistan team will be
playing England in Leeds in the second leg of their Europe tour after playing
Ireland. Kirsten, a former South African cricketer, has previously led India to
a World Cup title in 2011 and has extensive coaching experience in
international and franchise cricket.
Kirsten will with the
team ahead of the four-match T20I series against England in Headingley.
Following this series, Pakistan will participate in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup
2024, which will be held in the United States and the West Indies. Pakistan’s
opening match will be against the host team, the United States, on June 6 in
Dallas.
Jason Gillespie, the
former Australian fast bowler, has been appointed as the red-ball head coach.
Gillespie has previously coached Zimbabwe and Australian domestic teams.
Additionally, Azhar Mahmood will serve as the assistant coach across all
formats and act as a bridge between the ehad coaches and the players.
Gary Kirsten
expressed his enthusiasm for coaching Pakistan’s national cricket team. He sees
this as an opportunity to contribute to the team’s success and maintain
Pakistan’s strong position in international cricket. Kirsten emphasized the
importance of teamwork, planning, and social efforts in achieving success.
Kirsten believes that
the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 is a significant moment for Pakistan.
It provides an excellent platform to showcase their abilities and establish
themselves as a formidable force in cricket. However, achieving success will
require collective efforts, strategic planning, and mutual support.
