Ahmed takes lead in President PGA Open Golf

Ahmed Baig dominated
the opening day of the 2nd President Punjab Golf Association Professional Golf
Championship which got underway at the picturesque Defence Raya Golf Course in
Lahore. The tournament, boasting a prize purse of seven million rupees, has
attracted 100 of the country's top professional golfers.
Seasoned golfer Ahmed
Baig of Royal Palm Golf Club emerged as the leader after a stellar performance
in the first round. Baig showcased exceptional tee shot accuracy on par fours,
par fives, and precise approach shots on par threes, resulting in birdies or
pars on most holes.
His meticulous
execution throughout the 18 holes yielded an impressive score of
seven-under-par 65, leaving a significant lead. On Baig's heels is Muhammed
Alam of Lahore Garrison, carding a commendable six-under-par 66. This positions
him just one stroke behind the leader, setting the stage for a thrilling battle
in the remaining rounds.
Minhaj Maqsood
(Rawalpindi) sits in third place with a solid three-under-par 69, showcasing
his determination to challenge for the top spot.
Waqar ul Hassan
(Rawalpindi), Abdul Zahoor (Multan), and Kamran Shafiq (Gymkhana) are all tied
at one-under-par 71. Waris Ali (Raya), Talat Ijaz (Gymkhana), and Muhammed
Nazir (Rawalpindi) are trailing closely at two-over-par 72.
