Alam soars to Lead in President PGA Open Golf

Muhammad Alam took charge of the day in the 2nd
President Punjab Golf Association (PGA) Professional Golf Championship at the
Defence Raya Golf Course that is now heating up with performances. After two
rounds, the field has been cut to 58 players vying for the prestigious title
and a share of the seven million rupee prize money.
Alam of Lahore Garrison has emerged as the frontrunner,
showcasing exceptional golfing prowess. He carded a remarkable score of
six-under-par 65 in the second round, adding to his first-round score of
six-under-par 66. This stellar performance puts him at a commanding position
with a two-round aggregate of 13-under-par 131.
Alam's round was a display of dominance, with birdies on
nine holes, including a strong start with birdies on holes 5, 6, and 8 on the
front nine. He continued his momentum on the back nine with birdies on holes 10
through 13, 16, and 18. Two bogeys on holes 2 and 4 were the only blemishes on
his impressive card.
Five strokes behind Alam is the highly skilled Ahmed Baig
(Royal Palm), determined to bridge the gap. Veteran golfer Muhammed Zubair
(Karachi) sits at two-under-par 142, showcasing his continued playing
excellence.
The ever-reliable Muhammed Shabbir Iqbal (Margalla Greens)
trails closely at three-under-par 143. Talat Ijaz (Gymkhana) and M. Sajjad
(AGC) are tied at four-over-par 144. Khalid Khan (Peshawar), M. Safdar
(Gujranwala), and M. Shahzad (Garrison) are all within striking distance at
five-over-par 145.
Haroon Shafiq, the Tournament Organizer, praised the high
quality of golf displayed throughout the championship. He expressed
anticipation for a thrilling final round at the immaculate Defence Raya Golf
Course on Thursday.
With Muhammed Alam in the lead, the final round promises an
intense battle for the championship title. The remaining players will be
looking to capitalize on any stumbles from Alam and showcase their own skills
to claim victory. The picturesque greens of Defence Raya will witness the
culmination of this exciting tournament.
