PCB retain Imad, Amir, Usman in World Cup squad

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced its 15-player squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, scheduled to take place in the USA and Caribbean from 1-29 June.

Babar Azam will lead the team which also contained as expected Imad Wasim, Mohammad Amir and Usman Khan. The selection committee, which included notable figures such as Abdul Razzaq, Asad Shafiq, Babar Azam, Bilal Afzal, Gary Kirsten, Mohammad Yousuf, and Wahab Riaz, finalized the squad following a two-hour meeting.

 

First-time T20 World Cup Participants: Abrar Ahmed, Azam Khan, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Saim Ayub, and Usman Khan.

Returning Players: Mohammad Amir (last played in 2016) and Imad Wasim (last played in 2021).

2022 World Cup Participants: The remaining eight players were part of the squad in Australia.

Management Insights: The team is considered a balanced mix of youth and experience, with key players having a history of strong performances. Haris Rauf, who is reported to be in good form, is expected to play a significant role.
