Rain disrupts President’s Trophy quarterfinal as JDW reach 124-4

The President’s Trophy Grade-II quarterfinal between JDW and Railways at Shoaib Akhtar Stadium saw weather interruptions dictate proceedings, with JDW reaching 124 for 4 in 41 overs on a rain-shortened opening day.

Persistent overnight rainfall delayed play until 3 PM, forcing a truncated session. Opting to bat first, JDW found stability through Mohammad Zubair and captain Ali Imran, who constructed a crucial 63-run partnership for the second wicket.

Zubair played an impressive innings, top-scoring with 58 runs, lacing his knock with 10 fours, while Ali Imran, remaining unbeaten on 43, struck five boundaries and a six. Haroon Arshad (3 not out) will resume alongside Imran when play continues on Tuesday morning.

For Railways, fast bowler Asad Ullah was the standout performer, claiming two wickets and keeping the opposition in check.

JDW’s Path to the Quarterfinals

JDW progressed to the knockout stage after winning three matches and securing first-innings leads in the other three, finishing atop Pool B.

With two days of play remaining, Railways will aim to capitalize on the conditions and restrict JDW, while the latter hopes for clear skies to build a solid first-innings total.
