JDW, the development squad of Multan Sultans, secured their place in the President’s Trophy Grade-II semi-finals after their quarter-final ended in a draw against Railways at Shoaib Akhtar Stadium. Despite losing two sessions on the opening day due to overnight rain, JDW’s 133-run first-innings lead proved decisive in earning their spot in the knockout stage.
Set a target of 374, Railways struggled to build momentum and finished at 64 for four on the final day, sealing JDW’s progression. The team will now face Sahir Associates in the semi-final, scheduled from May 24 to 26 at the same venue.
JDW’s triumph was anchored by left-arm pacer Majid Ali and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Zulkifal, who delivered crucial performances: 🏏 Majid Ali wrapped up Railways' innings, claiming six wickets for 36 runs (12.4-1-36-6), helping restrict them to 135 in 47.4 overs. 🏏 Mohammad Zulkifal rescued JDW from a shaky 100 for five, remaining unbeaten on 100, guiding his team to 240 all out, setting Railways an imposing chase of 374. His 166-ball innings included eight boundaries, providing stability in a pressure situation.
