Melisende steals the spotlight with stunning victory in Fan
Tan Cup

Horse racing fans witnessed an electrifying evening at the
Lahore Race Club, where upsets dominated the day’s card — and the biggest
surprise of all came in the Fan Tan Cup, the sixth and main race of the event.
Melisende, who was expected only to place, galloped past expectations and left
the favourites in her dust to win the prestigious cup in style.
The race was anticipated to be a showdown led by Tiete, the
bookmakers’ favourite. But in a thrilling finish, Melisende stunned the crowd,
showcasing stamina, speed, and the heart of a champion. Tiete held on for
second place, while long-shot Suicide Blonde clinched third, turning betting
slips into heartbreaks for many.
A day of unpredictable outcomes
From the very first race, it was clear the day wouldn't
follow the script.
Race 1: Jalal Prince surprises everyone
Jalal Prince defied the odds with a superb run to claim
victory. Land Cruiser, a safe bet for many, finished second as expected.
However, the favourite Leo Star could only manage third, disappointing many
backers.
Race 2: Sky Warrior takes off
The trend of surprises continued in the second race where
dark horse Sky Warrior soared to the top. Noon Princess surprised by claiming
second, while the heavily backed Mumraiz Love had to settle for third.
Race 3: Fluke pays off for Rayaan Prince
Billed as a potential fluke, Rayaan Prince delivered big,
securing an impressive win. Zaman Sahab, a reliable place choice, took second,
while Jahanbaz, another outsider, crept into third.
Race 4: Rakaposhi brings some normalcy
Finally, the fourth race saw a favourite deliver. Rakaposhi
cruised to a much-needed win for punters banking on form. Still, there was room
for a twist: Qalandar, not among the top picks, claimed second, and fluke
Thunder Boy claimed third.
Race 5: Wynx wins big
Wynx, selected by many as a place contender, turned out to
be the surprise winner in the fifth race. Black Tiger and Elizabeth rounded out
the top three—both considered unlikely picks pre-race, which made this another
chaotic finish for the day’s betting.
Race 6 – Fan Tan Cup: Melisende’s moment
In the day’s showpiece event, Melisende stole hearts—and
headlines. Despite being tipped for a place finish at best, she surged ahead in
the final stretch, leaving Tiete and Suicide Blonde in her wake. It was a
textbook example of grit, perfect timing, and brilliant jockey work.
So
It was a day when underdogs ruled the track and the form
book was tossed out the window. Bettors might have had a rough ride, but fans
were treated to a rollercoaster of excitement and surprises at every turn.
Whether you're here for the thrill, the form, or the
fantasy, days like these remind us why horse racing remains one of the most
unpredictable and exhilarating sports in the world.
