Scotland secured a commanding 58-run
victory over Thailand in their ICC Women's World Cup 2025 Qualifier match at
the LCCA Ground on Sunday.
After being put into bat, Scotland posted a
competitive total of 206 all out in 41 overs, led by captain Kathryn Bryce who
top-scored with a patient 60. She found solid support from Megan McColl, who
contributed 57, while wicketkeeper Ailsa Lister added a quick-fire 38 to help
Scotland past the 200-mark.
Thailand's bowling attack was spearheaded by
Thipatcha Putthawong, who claimed 3-28, well supported by Onnicha Kamchomphu's
3-34. Nattaya Boochatham chipped in with 2-46.
In reply, Thailand's innings never gained the
required momentum despite a brilliant fighting knock from Natthakan Chantham,
who scored 63. Boochatham (20) and Chanida Sutthiruang (18) were the only other
batters to reach double figures as Thailand were dismissed for 148 in 31.3
overs.
Scotland's bowling attack proved too strong,
with Rachel Slater producing exceptional figures of 3-9. She received excellent
support from Katherine Fraser (3-28) and Abtaha Maqsood (3-26), while Kannah
Tainey picked up 1-30.
The comprehensive win strengthens Scotland's
position in the qualification tournament as they continue their campaign to
secure a spot in the ICC Women's World Cup 2025.
