The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) hosted a spectacular ceremony at the historic Royal Fort in Lahore to honor the players and officials participating in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2025. 

Teams from host Pakistan, Bangladesh, West Indies, Ireland, Scotland, and Thailand were treated to an unforgettable evening of cultural extravagance and hospitality.

Royal Reception: PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi personally welcomed the players and officials at the iconic Alamgiri Gate of the Lahore Fort, expressing his best wishes for all the teams. “We welcome all the teams to the lively city of Lahore. You are all our special guests,” he said. “Pakistan is a peaceful, safe, and cricket-loving country. I hope your stay in the city of vibrant hearts will be pleasant and memorable.”

The event kicked off with a group photo featuring PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and the players and officials from all six teams.

Exploring Lahore’s Heritage: Foreign players and match officials were taken on a tour of Lahore’s cultural landmarks, including the Fort, Badshahi Mosque, Allama Iqbal’s Mausoleum, and Hazuri Bagh. One of the highlights was a colorful rickshaw ride, which the guests thoroughly enjoyed, immersing themselves in the city’s vibrant culture.

Inside the Fort’s Diwan-e-Khas, maids dressed in Mughal-era attire extended traditional courtesies to the guests, while the mesmerizing Kathak dance performance and flute tunes captivated their attention. Guests were also given a tour of historical sites such as Diwan-e-Aam, Barood Khana, and Sheesh Mahal, accompanied by insights into the rich history of the fort.

Cultural Performances: The evening came alive with the electrifying beats of the Dholchi group, creating a lively atmosphere. Foreign players joined the celebration, dancing along and showcasing their enjoyment of Pakistan’s dynamic culture. The arrival of the "King" added a theatrical touch, impressing the guests with an authentic Mughal-era experience.

Celebratory Dinner: A grand dinner in honor of the foreign guests rounded off the evening. Players and officials expressed their gratitude for the warm hospitality, describing the event as an unforgettable experience.

“Thank you very much to the PCB. The event was memorable,” said foreign women players.

“Happy to see the historical sites. Will take pleasant memories from Lahore,” added another.

Match officials echoed their appreciation, noting the event’s uniqueness and cultural richness.

Distinguished Attendees: The ceremony was graced by US Consul General Kristin K. Hawkins, PCB COO Sameer Ahmed, CFO Javed Murtaza, Head of Women’s Cricket Rafia Haider, and other high-ranking officials, further emphasizing the significance of this cultural exchange.

This grand celebration showcased Pakistan’s commitment to fostering inclusivity, cultural appreciation, and cricket diplomacy, leaving players and officials with lasting memories of their time in Lahore.
