PCB acquires multi-storied building near GS to resolve accommodation issue

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken a
significant step towards addressing the longstanding issue of accommodation for
both local and international cricketers by acquiring a multi-storied building
near Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
The acquisition of the building, which comes at a cost of
PKR 4 billion, marks a proactive move by the PCB to provide convenient and
secure lodging for cricket teams during international matches and tournaments.
Initially, the building was constructed in close proximity
to Gaddafi Stadium, raising security concerns and sparking legal disputes that
halted its construction. However, the PCB seized the opportunity to purchase
the building after it became available, offering a viable solution to the
accommodation challenges faced by cricket teams visiting Lahore.
While the building is currently in an incomplete state as an
apartment complex, the PCB plans to renovate it and transform it into a Kosion
Star Hotel. This initiative is expected to entail further investment, but it
will ultimately address the pressing need for suitable lodging for both local
and foreign cricketers.
One of the primary benefits of this acquisition is the
elimination of traffic congestion caused by shuttling teams between their
accommodations and the stadium. With the new hotel situated in close proximity
to Gaddafi Stadium, players and officials will enjoy greater convenience, and
the public will experience reduced traffic disruptions during match days.
Furthermore, the PCB's initiative aligns with its broader
vision to enhance facilities for cricket teams across Pakistan. Plans are also
underway to develop similar accommodation near the National Stadium in Karachi,
reflecting the board's commitment to providing world-class amenities for
cricketing events nationwide.
Overall, the acquisition of the multi-storied building near
Gaddafi Stadium represents a significant milestone in the PCB's efforts to
improve infrastructure and ensure a seamless experience for players, officials,
and spectators alike during cricket matches in Lahore.
