Lahore Qalandars & ANF join forces to combat drug abuse through sports

Lahore Qalandars ANF join forces to combat drug abuse through sports

In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at protecting Pakistan’s youth from the growing threat of substance abuse, the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and Lahore Qalandars have officially partnered to tackle drug use through the powerful medium of sports.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at a formal ceremony in Lahore, bringing together two very different—but equally influential—forces for good. Representing ANF Punjab Regional Directorate, the commanding officer signed the agreement alongside Rana Atif, CEO of Lahore Qalandars, committing both sides to a shared mission: to use cricket as a vehicle for awareness, prevention, and positive engagement.

“This partnership is about more than just awareness—it’s about action,” said Rana Atif.

“We believe sports can inspire discipline, purpose, and healthy life choices among the youth.”

What’s the goal?

The primary aim of the collaboration is to raise drug prevention awareness, especially among school and college-going students, while promoting positive alternatives like sports and community activities.

By fusing the energy of cricket with public health messaging, both organizations plan to run a series of national and regional programs that not only educate but actively involve young people in building a drug-free future.

What’s in the plan?

The ANF–Lahore Qalandars collaboration will include:

School and college outreach initiatives

Community-based sports events and cricket tournaments

Interactive seminars and youth-led workshops

Social media campaigns and digital storytelling

Motivational sessions with athletes, influencers, and ANF representatives

With Lahore Qalandars’ powerful reach in the cricketing world and ANF’s authority in public safety and prevention, the goal is to speak directly to youth—in a language they understand: sports, teamwork, and purpose.

ANF’s mission for a drug-free Pakistan

The Anti-Narcotics Force, working under the Ministry of Narcotics Control, has expanded its Drug Demand Reduction (DDR) programs in recent years, moving beyond enforcement to focus more on community engagement and education.

“We are committed to building a drug-free Pakistan,” said an ANF spokesperson.

“Collaborating with respected institutions like Lahore Qalandars helps us reach hearts and minds through a shared passion for sports.”

This is part of a broader, nationwide strategy that aims to reduce drug dependency through early intervention and awareness. By teaming up with Lahore Qalandars, ANF is bringing a fresh, youthful energy to its mission—while also breaking stigmas associated with talking about drug use and prevention.

Why this matters more than ever

With increasing concerns about drug usage among teenagers and young adults, this initiative couldn’t come at a better time. Pakistan, like many countries, is facing rising challenges in adolescent mental health, social pressures, and limited access to preventive education.

By combining law enforcement expertise with sports outreach, this partnership offers a balanced, people-first approach. It focuses on inspiring voluntary discipline and awareness—rather than fear—through the structure and spirit that team sports naturally promote.

A model for future collaborations

This public-private partnership sets a strong precedent for how sports franchises and social institutions can work together for greater social impact. As Lahore Qalandars continues to lead off the field with its Player Development Program, this initiative will now add another layer of social responsibility and youth mentorship to its brand.

The ANF, meanwhile, gains a culturally relevant and emotionally resonant partner in its journey toward drug prevention and social wellbeing.

Timely initiative for lasting change

In a country where cricket is more than just a game—where it is a way of life, a symbol of unity, and a beacon of hope—this collaboration between ANF and Lahore Qalandars is both timely and meaningful.

By engaging Pakistan’s youth with messages of strength, discipline, and healthy living through cricket, this initiative holds the promise of lasting change. It’s not just about keeping kids off drugs—it's about showing them what they can become with the right guidance and support.
