Arena Grandmaster (AGM) Asad Javed outmaneuvered 35 top contenders to clinch the title at the World Chess Day Championship 2025, a high-profile event hosted by the Chess Federation of Pakistan in collaboration with Kings Chess Club, Lahore, under the Prime Minister’s National Mind Sports Initiative.

 

The competition—structured over nine intense rounds—saw some of Pakistan’s finest chess minds locking horns in a celebration of intellect, resilience, and strategic finesse. The championship, commemorating World Chess Day, served a dual purpose: recognizing seasoned talent and offering a platform for emerging players across the national circuit.

 

Javed, rated 1923, demonstrated commanding consistency throughout the event, fending off challenges from FIDE Masters and National Masters alike. His precision and tempo control not only secured the top spot but also cemented his stature as one of Pakistan’s rising chess stars.

Organizers underscored the event’s alignment with the National Mind Sports Initiative, which aims to foster cognitive excellence and broaden Pakistan’s intellectual sporting base. Titled players such as FIDE Masters, Arena Grandmasters, and National Masters added prestige to the championship, reflecting the country's increasing investment in mental athletics.

 

“World Chess Day is more than a calendar celebration — it’s a call to recognize strategic intellect as a national asset,” said a federation official Mohammad Waqar.

چیس فیڈریشن آف پاکستان نے ورلڈ چیس ڈے کی مناسبت سے پرائم منسٹر نیشنل مائنڈ اسپورٹس انیشی ایٹو کے تحت کنگز چیس کلب لاہور کے اشتراک سے ایک اعلیٰ سطحی "ورلڈ چیس ڈے چیمپئن شپ" کا انعقاد کیا، جس میں ملک کے 36 ذہین کھلاڑیوں نے شرکت کی۔

 

نو سنسنی خیز راؤنڈز کے بعد ایرینا گرینڈ ماسٹر اسد جاوید نے شاندار کارکردگی کے ذریعے چیمپئن کا اعزاز حاصل کیا۔ ان کی مسلسل عمدگی نے انہیں مقابلے کے ہر مرحلے میں نمایاں رکھا، اور وہ قومی سطح پر تیزی سے اُبھرتے ہوئے کھلاڑی کے طور پر سامنے آئے۔
