DHA Karachi's Saad Habib Malik has established himself as the standout performer at the 14th Pakistan Junior Amateur Golf Championship, maintaining his commanding lead with another spectacular round at the prestigious Rumanza Golf Course in Multan.

Dominant Performance

Habib continued his masterful display with a second-round score of 66, six under par, matching his first-round performance. His aggregate score of 132, twelve under par after two rounds, has not only impressed his competitors but also caught the attention of golf experts and mentors monitoring the championship. This exceptional showing places him in a strong position heading into Friday's final round.

Championship Significance

The tournament, organized by the Pakistan Golf Federation, carries additional weight this year as it serves as the selection trials for Pakistan's representatives at the Nick Faldo World Golf Championship scheduled for April 2025 in Vietnam. The event will determine both boys' and girls' team compositions for the international competition.

Strong Competition

Abdul Moiz Khan of Rumanza Golf Club has emerged as the nearest challenger, posting impressive rounds of 68 and 69 for a seven-under-par aggregate of 137. Despite trailing the leader by five strokes, Moiz's consistent performance has earned him widespread acclaim.

The championship has revealed impressive depth in Pakistan's junior golf ranks:

M. Irtiza Hussain (Margalla Greens) sits at third with 141 (71, 70)

Shamir Majid and M. Abdullah Khan (Defence Raya) share fourth at 142

M. Laraib ur Rehman (Peshawar) follows closely at 143

Forty-seven other participants remain in contention despite the significant gap to the leaders

Women's Competition

The girls' section has witnessed equally compelling golf, with Peshawar Golf Club's Sara Amin leading the field. Her rounds of 68 and 70 have produced an impressive six-under-par aggregate of 138, demonstrating remarkable consistency. Lahore Garrison's Bushra Fatima holds second position with scores of 72 and 77, aggregating to 149.

Looking Ahead

The championship's final round on Friday at Rumanza Golf Course promises intense competition as players vie not only for the national junior title but also for spots on Pakistan's teams for the Nick Faldo World Golf Championship. The tournament has already highlighted the growing strength of junior golf in Pakistan, with performances suggesting a bright future for the sport in the country.

The event's location at Rumanza Golf Course, one of Pakistan's premier golfing venues, has provided an ideal setting for these young talents to showcase their abilities. The course's challenging layout has tested the players' skills while allowing exceptional scoring from the tournament's leading contenders.

As the championship moves into its decisive phase, all eyes will be on Saad Habib to see if he can maintain his remarkable form and secure both the national title and a place in Pakistan's international representation.
