The Punjab Amateur Golf Championship 2025 has
transformed the Lahore Garrison Greens Golf Course into a battlefield of
golfing prowess. Muhammed Shoaib has emerged as the tournament's frontrunner,
delivering an exceptional performance with a two-round aggregate of 142, two
under par. His second-round gross score of 69 showcased remarkable precision
and skill, positioning him at the top of the leaderboard.
Closely challenging Shoaib is Qasim Ali Khan from Lahore
Gymkhana, who matches the leader's aggregate score of 142 as well. Despite a
slightly inconsistent second round where he scored a gross 74, Khan remains a
formidable competitor. Not far behind is young golfer Saad Habib of DHA, with
an aggregate score of 143, just one stroke away from the leaders, demonstrating
the tournament's competitive nature.
The championship has also highlighted other promising
talents. Hussain Hamid of Royal Palm and Ameer Khawaja of Sialkot remain in
contention, currently sitting at an aggregate score of 148. Their potential for
a breakthrough in the final round keeps the excitement high.
In the professional category, Tahir Bashir of Pakistan
Rangers has distinguished himself with consistent performances, scoring gross
71 and 70 in the first two rounds. His display suggests a promising future in
professional golf, with Atiiqur Rehman of Karachi Golf Club providing strong
competition.
The tournament's final round on Saturday promises to be a
thrilling conclusion.
