Pakistan's bowling allrounder, Fatima Sana, has joined the New Zealand domestic side Canterbury for the upcoming Women's Super Smash. Set to be part of the team for the first six rounds of the competition, Sana's entry adds international experience and skill to Canterbury's squad.

Expressing her enthusiasm for the opportunity, Sana stated, "Joining the Canterbury Magicians is a fantastic opportunity, and I am eager to contribute my best to the team's success. The Super Smash is known for its competitive nature, and I am looking forward to the challenges while learning from and sharing my experiences with my new teammates."

Fatima Sana, 22, was already in New Zealand, having played in all three T20Is and ODIs against the host country. Notably, she played a crucial role in Pakistan's T20I series win, securing an unassailable 2-0 lead with her impressive performances in the first two matches, where she took 3 wickets in each game. Sana's efforts earned her the Player of the Series title.

Canterbury's head coach, Rhys Morgan, expressed delight in welcoming Sana to the team, emphasizing her international experience and record as valuable additions to the squad. He believes her presence will enhance the team's performance and contribute to the overall excitement of this year's Super Smash.

This isn't Sana's first stint in foreign T20 leagues, as she had previously represented Barbados Royals in the Women's Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in the West Indies, where she showcased her skills by picking up three wickets in two matches.

The trend of international players joining Super Smash teams continues, with Sri Lankan batter Chamari Athapaththu recently signing up for Northern Brave. Athapaththu is expected to be available for selection in the game against Wellington on January 2.
