Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has lauded the remarkable achievements of Mohsin Nawaz, the country’s internationally acclaimed long-range shooter, for his historic contribution to shooting sports and for becoming the first Pakistani athlete in this discipline to receive the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz.

In a special meeting held to honour his accomplishments, the minister praised Nawaz for his pioneering role in elevating Pakistan’s profile on the global shooting circuit — a sport that has traditionally existed on the fringes of national focus.

Over the years, Nawaz has carved out a reputation as one of Pakistan’s most consistent and decorated shooters, with standout performances across European championships and other elite international competitions. His success has not only brought honour to Pakistan but has also opened doors for a new generation of shooters who now see the sport as a viable path to international recognition.

“Mohsin Nawaz’s journey embodies discipline, precision, and resilience — the very traits that define excellence,” Khawaja Asif remarked. “His achievements prove that with focus and determination, even sports with limited exposure in Pakistan can reach the global stage.”

The minister further commended Nawaz’s efforts to promote a positive and professional sports culture within Pakistan, highlighting how his dedication can inspire younger athletes to explore shooting sports — a discipline requiring rare technical expertise and mental fortitude.

Beyond his competitive success, Mohsin Nawaz also stands out for his academic and professional contributions as a sports psychologist. His research and advocacy on athlete mental health and emotional well-being have added an important new dimension to Pakistan’s sporting ecosystem.

Recognizing this, the Defence Minister noted that Nawaz’s dual expertise — as both a marksman and psychologist — could help transform how Pakistani athletes prepare for high-pressure environments, ensuring that mental strength complements physical skill.

“His work underscores that true athletic performance is not just about physical mastery but also mental balance,” Khawaja Asif added. “This approach could reshape the way we nurture future sports talent in Pakistan.”

For Nawaz, the recognition from the government represents not only a personal milestone but also a breakthrough for shooting sports in the country. With his blend of precision, psychology, and perseverance, Mohsin Nawaz continues to redefine what it means to represent Pakistan — both on and off the range.
