Racing resumes at LRC with Independence Day Cup

The Lahore Race Club (LRC) is set to
resume its activities after a short break. The much-anticipated Independence
Day Cup and Jashn-e-Azadi Cup will be the highlights of the day's racing events
on Sunday.
A total of four races are scheduled, including
two Kalam Plates and the two cup events. All races will be run over a distance
of one mile.
The Independence Day Cup, a Class VII race for
Division IV and V horses, promises to be a thrilling contest. A field of 12
runners will compete for the coveted trophy. Flying Fire is the early favorite,
with Zeman Sahib expected to challenge for the place. Luckvir is another horse
to watch out for. Other contenders include Absolutely Not, Mumraiz Love,
Stardom, Emerging Star, Puerto Rico, Malik Badshah, Generosity, Self Belief,
and Pocket Power.
The Jashn-e-Azadi Cup, a Class VII race for
Division II and III horses, is another highlight of the day. A smaller field of
five horses will battle it out for the win. Lady Champion is the top pick, with
Apple of My Eye seen as a potential placegetter. Deedavar, Nazma Queen, and
Tahira will also be vying for glory.
The day's racing will also feature two Kalam
Plate races, with a total of 22 horses competing.
The evening will begin with the Kalam Plate of Class-VII
and Division-VII category. As 11 are in the run, Silent Melody is fvourite for
win while Abdullah Love may take the place and Galileo Lady is on fluke. Remaining
field includes Denial Prince, Pocket Wood, Shall Lead, Vitoria, Fakhar-e-Saki, Star
Crown, Apache and Sky Warrior.
In the final race with 11 participants, Pride
of Chandrai is favourite. Its closest challenger is Tatla Choice while Gifts of
Gold is on fluke. The field includes Mr.Brown, Abdullah Champion, Desert Perri,
Dill Lagi, Vartika, Merchant of Venus, Super Power, and Flokey.
The Lahore Race Club has implemented new
security measures, restricting access to the Stewards Room and Members Room.
Only Stewards and Permanent members will be allowed entry without prior written
permission from the Chairman.
Racing fans can look forward to an exciting day
of horse racing as the Lahore Race Club kicks off its summer meeting.
