In a spirited match at the Gaddafi Stadium, Quetta Gladiators emerged victorious against Lahore Qalandars in the fifth encounter of the Pakistan Super League 2024. Quetta's disciplined bowling and resilient batting, led by opener Sahibzada Farhan and Khawaja Mohammad Nafay, dismantled Lahore's challenge.

Chasing Lahore Qalandars' score of 187 for seven, Quetta Gladiators showcased a composed batting performance. Farhan set the stage with a solid 40 runs, laying the foundation for the successful chase. However, it was Nafay's maiden match-winning half-century that propelled Quetta to victory, finishing at 188 for five with five balls to spare.

Nafay's breathtaking 60 runs in 31 balls, accompanied by Akeal Hosein's steady contribution, ensured Quetta's triumph. Lahore Qalandars, despite putting up a fighting total, couldn't contain Quetta's determined batting lineup.

Earlier in the match, Lahore Qalandars, opting to bat first, faced an early setback with the dismissal of Fakhar Zaman in the third over. Despite a cautious start, they found themselves on the backfoot as Sahibzada Farhan and Rassie van der Dussen aimed to stabilize the innings. Farhan's resilient innings of 62, supported by contributions from Abdullah Shafique and Jahandad Khan, helped Lahore reach a decent total.

However, Quetta Gladiators, with bowlers like Akeal Hosein, Mohammad Husnain, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Wasim, and Abrar Ahmed, managed to restrict Lahore's progress. Hosein, in particular, showcased his spinning prowess with figures of 2/17.

Quetta's victory marked a significant moment in the ongoing PSL 2024, with Lahore Qalandars now facing added pressure due to their recent performance. Quetta Gladiators, on the other hand, continue their campaign with resilience and determination.
