Mohsin Naqvi elected as PCB Chairman unanimously

In a historic development for Pakistani cricket, Syed
Mohsin Raza Naqvi has been unanimously and unopposed elected as the 37th
Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The decision was made by the ten
members of the Board of Governors at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore,
marking the beginning of a new era in the leadership of the PCB.
The Board of Governors, who attended the special meeting, includes Mustafa Ramday (PCB Patron’s nominee),
Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi (PCB Patron’s nominee), Ali Khokhar, President Regional
Cricket Association AJK, Zafarullah Jadgal, President Regional Cricket
Association Dera Murad Jamali, Tanveer Ahmed, President Regional Cricket
Association Larkana, Tariq Sarwar, President Regional Cricket Association
Bahawalpur, Muhammad Ismail Qureshi, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, Dr
Anwaar Ahmad Khan, Ghani Glass Limited, Javed Iqbal, State Bank of Pakistan, Osama
Azhar, Pakistan Television and Nadeem Irshad Kayani, Secretary to the
Government of Pakistan, Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination (Non-voting
member).
Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, currently serving as the Caretaker Chief
Minister of Punjab, will assume the role for a three-year term. His election as
the PCB Chairman comes after Zaka Ashraf's resignation due to a perceived lack
of authority. This marks the second instance in Pakistan's cricket history
where a journalist appointed as the Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab has been
endorsed as the PCB Chairman, with Najam Aziz Sethi being the first.
The nomination of Mohsin Naqvi was proposed by the Patron PCB,
caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar, along with Mustafa Ramdey. The
Board of Governors comprises representatives from various regions and
departments, including Azad Jammu Kamshir, Larkana, Dera Murad Jamali,
Bahawalpur, PTV, State Bank, Sui Gas, and Ghani Glass.
Addressing the Board of Governors after his election, Syed
Mohsin Raza Naqvi expressed his deep honor and gratitude. He stated, "I am
deeply honoured and humbled to have been unanimously elected as the Chairman of
the Pakistan Cricket Board. I am thankful for the trust and confidence reposed
in me. I am fully committed to upgrading the standard of the game in the
country and bringing professionalism in the administration of cricket in
Pakistan."
Cricket enthusiasts and stakeholders are optimistic about the
positive changes and advancements that the new PCB Chairman may bring to the
cricketing landscape in Pakistan. The unanimous support signifies a strong
mandate for Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, indicating a collective vision for the
