In an unexpected turn of events at the Lahore Race Club on Saturday, Mighty Macs produced the biggest upset of the day by clinching the Trace Hit Cup, overtaking favorite Brooklyn who failed to secure a podium finish. The post-Pakistan Derby 2025 races were rescheduled from Sunday due to the commencement of the holy month of Ramazan.
The day witnessed three major upsets in five races, with only two favorites emerging victorious. The Sutlej Cup, the final event of the day, was canceled after three of the seven participating horses were scratched.
Latin Storm, not initially favored for a top-three finish, galloped to victory. Serenity, as expected, claimed the second place, while favorite Tango To Fire settled for third.
In the second race, Vartika, anticipated to take second place, raced to a surprising win. Similarly, Mumraiz Love, who was not among the favorites, stunned everyone by winning, and Emerging Star secured third place.
In the third race, Black Master and Challa Queen were the top contenders, but it was Challa Queen who raced to victory with a quick turn of events. Apple Of My Eyes and Thunder Boy, unexpected finishers, took second and third places respectively, while Black Master fell out of contention.
Shakira lived up to expectations by winning the fourth race, while Golden Heart had an impressive run for second place, and Brigadier, considered a fluke, settled for third.
In the Trace Hit Cup, Mighty Macs, an unknown contender, staged a late comeback to claim the win, overtaking Murad who finished second. Farhan Prince slipped to third position. The Sutlej Cup was canceled after three horses were found unfit for the race.
The day at the Lahore Race Club was filled with excitement, surprises, and intense competition, marking a memorable event for horse racing enthusiasts.
