In a championship full of twists and tight finishes, Aahyan Mumtaz produced a standout performance to capture the Millat Tractors Governor’s Cup Golf Championship, which concluded at the historic Lahore Gymkhana Golf Course on Sunday.
Going into the final rounds without the spotlight on him, Mumtaz rose above a competitive field of seasoned golfers to secure the coveted title with an aggregate net score of 209, finishing three-under-par. His composed display under pressure proved decisive, allowing him to fend off strong challenges from more experienced rivals and emerge as one of the tournament’s biggest talking points.
Mumtaz’s success was built on disciplined stroke play, precise fairway accuracy and smart course management. Maintaining consistency across all rounds, he executed his game plan with confidence, surprising spectators and competitors alike as he sealed victory and lifted the prestigious Governor’s Cup.
Veteran golfer Farid Maneka mounted a determined challenge throughout the championship but ultimately finished second with a net total of 212. Aayan Bashir followed closely in third place on 213, while Muhamin Maneka completed the leading group with an aggregate score of 214, reflecting the narrow margins that defined the contest.
In the senior category, Taimur Shabbir claimed top honours after delivering a steady and controlled performance, while the ladies title was secured by Saqiba Batool of Royal Palm, who impressed with her consistency over the course of the tournament.
The prize distribution ceremony added further distinction to the event, with several prominent figures in attendance. Sikandar Mustafa Khan, Head of the Millat Group, graced the occasion as chief guest, joined by Salman Siddique, Chairman of Lahore Gymkhana, along with Kamran Lashari and Ahmed Nawaz Sukhera, who collectively presented trophies and awards to the winners.
The successful conclusion of the championship not only highlighted emerging talent like Aahyan Mumtaz but also reinforced the Governor’s Cup’s reputation as one of the most competitive and prestigious events on Pakistan’s golfing calendar.
