Raza, the breakout star of the Champions One-Day Cup, shares his inspiring
journey from village cricket to international acclaim.
The PCB
Podcast spotlights Ali Raza, the 16-year-old pace bowler from Sheikhupura,
whose rise to prominence has captured the attention of cricket fans and experts
alike. Raza, who made headlines during the Champions One-Day Cup in Faisalabad,
shared his inspiring journey from village cricket to the national stage. “It’s
been an amazing experience,” Raza reflected in the 17-minute segment,
recounting his first visit to Pakistan’s National Cricket Academy and his
recent stint at the ECB's High-Performance Centre in Loughborough.
Ali
Raza’s impressive debut in the Champions Cup, where he dismissed prominent
players like Mohammad Haris and Shan Masood, has cemented his reputation as one
of Pakistan’s brightest future stars. Despite missing the first two matches due
to dengue fever, Raza returned to lead his team, Lake City Panthers, to victory
in consecutive games, securing crucial wickets and contributing significantly
to their success.
Raza’s
performance in the ICC Men’s U19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa earlier this
year further solidified his potential, with nine wickets in three matches,
including a four-wicket haul against Australia. Though he is yet to make his
first-class debut, the teenage sensation is being closely watched by coaches
and selectors, with many touting him as a future star for Pakistan.
